Take a hike to the top of a beautiful river bluff. Once you’re at the top you’ll be awe struck by the gorgeous countryside. The lush river valley is stunning in the summer but becomes a wonderland of color once fall arrives. This is one classic Missouri hike that will satisfy your need for fresh air and beautiful views all year long.
Visit Castlewood State Park and take on the River Scene Trail. This 3 mile long loop is moderately challenging but many novice hikers enjoy the hike.
The bluffs rise 249 feet into the air and give you visibility for miles. You'll want to be sure your phone is well charged so you can snap pictures and take videos.
On you way back down the bluffs you'll come to the river bottoms. Enjoy the wildlife, on quite mornings and afternoons you can spot deer feeding on the grasses.
Castlewood State Park is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the St. Louis area. The park is just 30 minuets from downtown St. Louis in Ballwin. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. until 30 minutes prior to sunset.
