Christmastime often means a stroll down Memory Lane. We gather with family and friends, remembering days gone by, those we have loved and lost, and memories that still make us laugh. We have so many ways to experience an old-fashioned Christmas in Missouri, including a visit to this darling small town. Every holiday season, it turns back the clock, at least for a brief time, to Christmastime of long ago.
Embrace the Christmas spirit with a visit to the charming small town of Warrensburg this holiday season for a bit of Christmas shopping, good eats, or to attend its annual Dickens Festival.
The holiday fun officially kicks off with the Lighted Holiday Parade on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 6 p.m. The hour-long parade will wind its way through downtown Warrensburg.
Gather on the courthouse lawn for the parade’s finale. Santa will make his grand entrance, and the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas tree will take place.
For one glorious Saturday afternoon, the town transforms into a scene from the 1840s and Dickens' “A Christmas Carol.” The 2022 event is set for December 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is one Saturday you’ll want to wake up early, so you don’t miss the arrival of Father Christmas. He pulls into the town’s train station at 9:34 a.m., signaling the start of an epic day of holiday fun.
Stay toasty with a cup of hot chocolate as you munch on roasted chestnuts, and climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage ride. The day will also feature Christmas carolers and decorated windows.
Sample some of the town’s best soup, too, by joining the Tiny Tim Soup Stroll. For just $10, taste soup from participating businesses, and vote for your favorite. The Tiny Tim Soup Stroll runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you can’t make it to Warrensburg for a journey back to Dickens’ time, make plans to visit during the Christmas season to enjoy the decorations and explore the shops.
