The Missouri Wine Trolley Tour You’ll Absolutely Love
When German settlers arrived in the area now known as Hermann in the mid-1800s, they quickly realized the rocky soils were perfect for growing grapes. Missouri wine country was born and, since the 1980s, wine regions around Hermann, Augusta, the southwest Missouri Ozark mountains and highlands, and the south central region around St. James have all been designated as American Viticultural Areas (AVA). AVA’s are recognized by the federal government as, “grape-growing regions having distinguishing geographical features,” and Missouri was the first state to earn an AVA classification.
Summer is the best season to try award-winning Missouri wines and Hermann is still one of the leading wine producers in the state. So, pack your bags and head to Hermann because your chariot to wine country awaits!
