The Unique Village In Missouri Where Time Stands Still

Life in Missouri was certainly much different 200 years ago. For a glimpse into the past, you can visit a tiny historical village in St. Charles County and learn about day-to-day life for Missouri’s early settlers. This little village has been almost untouched by time and is one of the most unique and beautiful spots in the Show Me State.

America's most famous pioneer is also one of Missouri's most famous residents. Daniel Boone settled in Missouri in 1799 while the area was still under Spanish control.

The Boone home is now a part of the Historic Daniel Boone Home at Lindenwood Park in Defiance. This stunning four story Georgian style mansion actually belonged to Daniel's youngest son Nathan.

Inside you will find the rooms look much like they would have when the Boone's occupied the home.

Take a step back in time and see what life was like for Missourian's in the 1800's. Staff members are often dressed in period attire and tend to the daily duties of pioneer life.

The grand home of Nathan Boone was added to the National Register of historic Places in 1973 and continues to attract tourist from around the world.

In addition to the beautiful Boone home, Lindenwood Park features dozens of other historically important buildings.

History is truly brought to life in this little village. Visit the smithy, stables, and general store for a vivid picture of frontier life.

The church, Old Peace Chapel, was originally a general store and dance hall from New Melle. By the early 1900's the building was converted in to a church, which was moved to the Daniel Boone Home site in 1983.

Today, brides can reserve the church for their nuptials. There is also a special candle lit Christmas service held every year.

This historic village is truly a unique experience that can be enjoyed by your whole family. There is no admission to visit the grounds but guided tours are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children.
