Hiking doesn’t always have to be strenuous for a great payoff. Here in the Show Me State we have lots of shorter trails that are quick and rewarding. Now that cooler temperatures are on their way, get outside and take an easy hike. Check out this trail in central Missouri that’s under 2-miles and full of stunning fall foliage!
Here and there, trees across Missouri are already starting to show their fall colors. Although the real display of fall colors won't arrive until mid-October it's already a good time to start planing some activities to take advantage of the show. Hiking the short, but sweet, Grindstone Nature Trail in Columbia is wonderful in Autumn.
This well maintained trail is located just off Stadium Drive and Old Highway 63. It's amazing that such a beautiful nature area sits within the city limits of this busy college community.
Clocking in at 1.9 miles, this easy trail is perfect for family hikes and dog lovers. The trail is mostly gravel and on nice days is fairly well traveled.
One of the focal points of the trail is the beautiful pedestrian bridge. It's a lovely backdrop for photos and looks even more beautiful when surrounded by the colors of fall.
Whether you enjoy a relaxed nature walk, trail running, or biking this little loop is the perfect place for a fall hike. Enjoy the scenery and get away from your modern day troubles at the Grindstone Nature Area in Columbia.
