Missouri is blessed by having true seasons. As we shift from summer to fall, you’ll be wondering when the spectacular display of fall foliage will be at its peak this year. The Show Me State is one of the best places in the country to view the changing colors of fall and reports indicate that the display will last a little longer this year. Trees will explode with bright, beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red in the coming months, so time your trips right and you can experience the best of Missouri’s fall foliage.
It's easy to see why many Missourians think that fall is the best season. The humidity is finally bearable and so are the temperatures, plus the trees begin to burst with color. However, timing the turning of the leaves is always hard to pinpoint.
Luckily, the fall foliage predictions from the official Smokey Mountains website enables us to pinpoint the peak time for viewing the fall colors. This year the leaves will hold their green for a little longer than usual. The best times for seeing fall foliage this season will come in mid-to-late October.
Bright leaves of yellow, orange, and red will dot the Missouri landscape well into November. The late summer rains will help boost the vibrant colors we will soon see this fall.
There are hundreds of places to view Missouri's stunning fall display. Plan a camping trip in one of our many state parks, many offer cabin style camping for those who like to sleep indoors. Plan your trip for October if you're looking for the best of our fall foliage.
