Those of us who love animals can all probably agree that they just have a way of brightening a gloomy day and of knowing just what we need, whether we’re happy, sad, or sick. If you’re on the lookout for a fun and relaxing way to spend an hour, head over to this cat cafe in Missouri. You can meet the adoptable cats, sip on a drink, and have a bite to eat.
Do you have a favorite cat cafe in Missouri? Tell us about it in the comments! Does a penguin party sound like it’s your kind of thing? Good news! You can play with penguins at The Saint Louis Zoo during its Penguin Encounter.
Nestled in Maplewood, Mauhaus Cat Cafe & Lounge is the area's first permanent cat cafe, offering delicious food, drinks, and the chance to spend time with the kitties.
Peek at some of the adoptable felines through the window, asleep in their kitty-sized beds, waiting for their next round of visitors to stop by and say hi.
Before you pull up a chair and chat with the adoptable cats, head over to the counter to order a delicious dish, such as a scone, a cookie, or a cupcake.
If you're not hungry, you can also sip on one of the assorted drinks on the menu. Choose from a variety of espressos, coffees, and other drinks, such as hot chocolate and lemonade.
Now comes the fun part: Meeting the cats! Allow the cats to come up to and socialize with you. Holding the cats is not permitted. Cats, of course, are just like people. They all have their own unique personalities - some are shy and some are outgoing.
All of the cats, except for the two resident kitties, are for adoption through Stray Haven Rescue. If you think you've met the purr-fect cat for your family, fill out an adoption application.
After your application has been reviewed, you'll be asked to schedule an adoption interview. Following the interview, you'll schedule a date to pick up your newest family member.
Walk-ins are welcome. However, your best bet is to make a reservation, so you don't have to wait. Advanced reservations cost $10 for an hour visit.
If you walk in, you can pay $5 for a half an hour visit or $10 for an hour visit. Those with reservations, however, receive a $5 drink on the house and 20 percent off other food and drinks.
