Located in the small town of St. James, the spectacular Maramec Spring Park has been maintained by the James Foundation since 1938.
Its vivid blue waters are surrounded by a walking path. Visitors can get an up-close view, although swimming and fishing is not prohibited in the spring. .
Prior to becoming this beautiful park, the property was purchased in 1826 by Thomas James. Mr. James opened the Maramec Iron Works and sent his son William to manage the facility until it closed in 1876. When William passed away in 1912 the property was willed to his granddaughter Lucy Wortham James.
It was Lucy's desire to have her family's property preserved for the public to enjoy for years and years to come. Take a trip to Maramec Spring Park and find out what makes it so special.
