The Missouri State Capitol houses the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. Senate of Missouri. In addition to its political importance, it also boasts stunning architectural features. Its dome soars 238 feat above ground level with the Missouri River as its backdrop.

3. Loose Park - Kansas City
During the warmer months, Loose Park is packed with grill-outs, joggers and sunbathers, alike. The 75-acre park features a Rose Garden, a playground, tennis courts and a trail along the outer area.

4. Katy Trail - Machens to Clinton

5. Nathanael Greene Close Memorial Park - Springfield
This botanical garden features 21 gardens and horticulture collections with hundreds of plant varieties. They may not be wild plants, but you'll certainly go wild over how many unique plant species are grown here.

6. Liberty Memorial - Kansas City
The Liberty Memorial was completed in 1926 and is undoubtedly one of Kansas City's most iconic structures. It was built as a memorial for all of those who served in World War I.

7. Smithville Lake - Smithville
Locals flock to this 7,190-acre reservoir in the summer to swim, kayak, boat and even paddleboard. It may be man-made, but it's one of the best natural spots near Kansas City to enjoy a sunny day outside.
