Okay, all you food lovers! Are you up for a delightfully delicious burger challenge in Missouri? A mighty meaty challenge that will leave you — whether you finish or not — stuffed? Oh, but that overly stuffed feeling just might be worth it if you want to join an elite group of diners who have won the Route 66 King of the Road Challenge. Are you up for it?
Tucked along the famous Route 66, Cookin’ From Scratch, in Doolittle, beckons diners with its home-cooked meals. However, if you’re really hungry and love a good challenge, sign up for the famous…
...Route 66 King of the Road Challenge. Make sure to sit down at the designated table when you’re good and hungry. If you want to earn the proverbial crown, you’ll have to eat a 66-ounce burger topped with nine slices of American cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onions.
The King of the Road Challenge comes with a set of rules, too. You have just 66 minutes to finish the mega-burger and fries. Before you dig in, though, you can take a bite to see if the burger’s cooked properly.
Get comfy in your seat, too, because that’s just where you have to stay until the clock hits 66 minutes or until you finish your massive meal, whichever comes first. Once the clock starts, it doesn’t stop.
Bring a cheering section along, but if they try to help you in any way, you’re out. If you get sick, you’re done. If you finish the meal in the allotted 66 minutes, you will be crowned…
Read the full list of rules. Cookin’ From Scratch is open Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Do you think you’re up to this burger challenge in Missouri? Or have you already won it? Let us know in the comments! If you’re not quite up for a food challenge but can do with massive portions, stop by Ethyl’s Smokehouse in O’Fallon.
