These 11 Restaurants In Kansas City Don't Look Like Much... But WOW, They're Good
I think most of us are guilty of judging a book by its cover every once in awhile. Sometimes restaurants are easy to judge based on their exterior, and other times, you’re missing out on a great meal just because the sign is faded. Well, after looking around town, we’ve discovered 11 restaurants that won’t dazzle you aesthetically, but the food is amazing!

Cupini's is a fantastic place to find the pasta of your dreams, which is of course authentic Italian. The restaurant isn't as pretty or bright as others, but the food speaks volumes instead.

Garozzo's is another restaurant that's a little plain looking, but the food is something you'll wanna call home about. It's popular enough that reservations on a weekend are common (and necessary) in order to get a table quickly. My favorite dish is their Chicken Spiedini Georgio, pictured above.

Jim's is a homely place, if we're being honest. Nothing on the outside shouts "great food in here!" but if you ask people leaving, you'll definitely get that response. The fries aren't a plus, but the burgers are some of the best in town.

The first thing you may notice taking a glance around this place is the dated, kitschy decor. However, once you get to know what's inside, you'll soon change your tone. Their burnt ends are a must-try, alongside fried okra or zucchini.

The food that comes out of this tiny restaurant is absolutely amazing. It's almost hidden in the wall, but once you step in, you're met with every delicious aroma imaginable. As far as their food goes, they carry a little of everything, all of it delicious.

Leed's is that diner that will be there when you need it most, as long as that time is between 6 am and 2 pm, on a weekday. Though the hours may discourage some, the food is addictive, with huge portions and great options.

This shack is a little dive-y, but don't let that discourage you from a taste of their wares. The burgers served here will have you coming back for more, and so will the tots.

Though the restaurant is true to its name, and never open on Sundays, the food isn't what you'd expect with a standard little restaurant like this. Gyros are a favorite of many who frequent this joint, and it's no wonder, because they're amazing!

Portia's is another restaurant you won't find open on weekends or after 2 pm, but it's worth an early start to the day just for breakfast or lunch. If you're a lover of comfort food of any kind, the home style meals here will suit you just fine.

It's not everywhere that a place looking this plain serves meals like brioche french toast (above) and salmon scrambled eggs. This little diamond-in-the-rough type spot is a winner in my book.

Last but not least by any means is Succotash. The outside is colorful, but not in a way you'd expect a restaurant to appear. Once you're eating, however, you forget instantly about anything you've seen outside as you get lost in your meal. However, they're only open to 2 or 3, so come early and leave full.
