Both those who move to Kansas City and those who are just vising have a few thoughts about our city. Sometimes everyone assumes we’re all about these, when in reality, we’re a large city full of just about everything. As the writer for Only In Kansas City, I spend a lot of time thinking about the area, and sometimes there’s a few things that always find themselves as labels for the city. Do all of these come to mind when you think about Kansas City too?
If you're not thinking about barbecue at least once a week, you might not be from around here. However, one of our claims to fame is top of the list when it comes to KC icons.
KC strips are the (clearly) superior choice when it comes to cuts of steak.

Though we're nowhere near the birthplace of Jazz, there were plenty of big-name stars that got their start here in our city.

The whole place is magical, and always filled with something to do. Plus, a big bonus is the gorgeous lights that come on at night to illuminate the streets.
Well, only one ship. The Steamboat Arabia museum is one of our best attractions, and it's not every day that a ship this big sinks somewhere besides the ocean.

Many visitors love just how many fountains we have, but residents also enjoy Fountain Day every year, as well as coloring them for holidays or local events.
Oddly enough, despite only having a small part of the city in Kansas, we get this all the time on either side.
