11 Things That Come To Everyone's Mind When They Think Of Kansas City
Both those who move to Kansas City and those who are just vising have a few thoughts about our city. Sometimes everyone assumes we’re all about these, when in reality, we’re a large city full of just about everything. As the writer for Only In Kansas City, I spend a lot of time thinking about the area, and sometimes there’s a few things that always find themselves as labels for the city. Well, only one ship. The Steamboat Arabia museum is one of our best attractions, and it's not every day that a ship this big sinks somewhere besides the ocean.

They're an art installation that has become one of our biggest icons. You could compare their fame to "the bean" (Cloud Gate) in Chicago.

We're actually called this not because of our wineries or anything else, but because of a statement made in the Omaha World Herald in the 1920s. It read "If you want to see some sin, forget about Paris and go to Kansas City."

Many visitors love just how many fountains we have, but residents also enjoy Fountain Day every year, as well as coloring them for holidays or local events.
