Tour The Home In Missouri Where Laura Ingalls Wrote Her Famous Books

Most of us likely got our introduction to Laura Ingalls Wilder when we picked up one of her Little House books during childhood or watched the wildly popular TV show based on those books. The beloved author brought growing up in 19th century America to life with her series of books, gaining lifelong fans that span generations. If you’ve not toured her historic home in Missouri yet, you’ll definitely want to add it to your must visit list.

Get a glimpse of the home where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote her famous *Little House on the Prairie* books at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum in Mansfield.

Laura, along with her husband Almanzo and daughter Rose, settled into the home, known as Rocky Ridge Farm, in 1894. She later began work on her classic book series.

Today, more than a century later, the home remains much as Laura and her family left it, offering a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of America's most beloved authors.

Go on a self-guided tour, or join a guided tour at select times of the Rock House that Rose had built for her parents in 1928. Soon after, a 65-year-old Laura would write the intial books of her *Little House* series.

Billed as the "most comprehensive Ingalls and Wilder family collections in the world," the museum displays everything from the family's furniture to handwritten manuscripts.

You'll even get to see Pa's famous fiddle, a prominent figure in many of Laura's books.

The museum hosts special events throughout the year, including the popular Wilder Days.

Be sure to stop by the Rocky Ridge Bookstore, where you can stock up on books by Laura and Rose. You'll also find a generous assortment of gifts and souvenirs.
