Do you have a favorite trail in Missouri? Maybe it’s one that leads you to a breathtaking cascade like Mina Sauk Falls, the tallest waterfall in Missouri. Or perhaps it’s just a short jaunt through the forest. Missouri’s large selection of trails means everyone will find the right one. If you’re up for a challenge, for example, gear up for a journey along the Goggins Mountain Trail. It’s a tough one, but the views make up for its hard rating.
Goggins Mountain Trail wanders 10.2 miles through Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park, and make no mistake. It's a tough trek.
Make sure you wear a pair of water shoes or shoes you don't mind getting wet either as you'll cross streams without bridges. If you like a good, rugged adventure, you'll absolutely love this trail.
Because it's a somewhat long and difficult trek, carve out at least four hours for your journey. You might need longer, depending on how fast you hike and whether you stop for breaks along the way.
Lather up on the bug spray and tick repellant as both are quite prevalent along the trail. However, you'll likely cross paths with more bugs than you do people.
Do you have a favorite trail in Missouri that takes you to the top of a mountain? Tell us about it in the comments! If you’re a fan of waterfalls, you’ll definitely want to follow this beautiful Missouri waterfall trail.
