We all have that urge to just get away every now and then. Sometimes we just want to relax and to recharge. Other times, however, we want to escape the crowds out of necessity. Next time you’re searching for somewhere to go away from the crowds, consider setting off on this picturesque hike that leads to a hidden waterfall in Missouri. You might just have it all to yourself, too.
Tucked within the Hercules Glades Wilderness Area in Mark Twain National Forest, a hidden waterfall gushes down, just waiting to be discovered by hikers.
To find it, lace up your hiking shoes; bring plenty of bottled water, and follow the Coy Bald Trail, a nearly seven-mile trek. No matter what time of the year you set off, the trail is usually quiet.
If you feel like getting away from it all for a few days, bring your camping gear, too. You'll find campsites at the beginning of and along the trail. Campsites have fire rings.
You'll probably hear the flow of the waterfall before it comes into full view. Keep in mind that it will be at its best after a rainfall and may just be a trickle during dry periods.
