In 2001, LaRee DeFreece started experimenting with the art of soapmaking, inspired by her own sensitive skin. In 2002, she helped establish Herbaria Soaps and later helped open a shop on The Hill in St Louis, Missouri. Since then, Herbaria has become a favorite both with St Louis locals and nationwide.
Since opening on The Hill in 2009, Herbaria has become a local favorite not only for its soaps but also for its participation in events such as parades, festivals and other events that happen right outside its front door. Herbaria also hosts events such as company parties, school field trips, and community celebrations in the store.
Airy and open, the store takes advantage of all the space and natural light that complements perfectly the aromatic presence of the soaps and other personal care items.
The soaps at Herbaria come in many shapes and sizes, from luffa "soaps on ropes" for those who want a little more natural exfoliation to these “cutie” sampler bars for those who want to try many flavors before committing to a full bar.
There is something for everyone at Herbaria, including gift bundles. Choose from sets of bath bombs, themed soap collections, or even make your own. The endless possibilities make it easy to get something everyone would like.
The soaps at Herbaria boast plenty of benefits, such as relief from eczema and dry skin. Some, such as its popular Camper's Choice even repel bugs and relieve the symptoms of poison ivy.
The bar soaps are lovingly made by hand in small batches to ensure that the quality of the soaps is balanced and beneficial for all skin types. Herbaria also offers free custom tours of its in-house soap factory where visitors can learn all about the soap-making process and the botanicals that make its soaps unique.
Along with its signature soaps, Herbaria offers many other personal care items such as candles, room sprays, shampoo bars, body butter, pet soaps, and natural deodorants, to name a few.
