No one makes a better sandwich than mom, especially when it comes to PB&J, right? But, if you like a good, hearty sandwich, you’ll quickly discover that this century-old deli in Missouri serves sandwiches that definitely rival our favorites from mom. Whether you’re in the mood for a traditional hot roast beef sandwich or Gioia’s famous hot salami sandwich, you’ll certainly be doing your taste buds a favor when you dine at Gioia’s Deli.
Discover what Missourians have known for decades. Gioia's Deli in St. Louis serves one amazing hot salami sandwich (and plenty of other delicious ones, too).
Originally a market opened by Italian immigrant Charlie Gioia in 1918, the market remained in the Gioia family until 1980. Then, the Donley family purchased it.
In fact, you'll even watch as one of the staff cuts the hot salami, which doesn't cool down from the time it's cooked until it's sliced and put onto your sandwich.
What kind of hot salami sandwich do you want? Choose from the original hot salami, hot salami and roast beef, or the Porknado. The Porknado features hot salami with ham and bacon on garlic cheese bread.
But, that's just the tip of the culinary iceberg. Gioia's menu also boasts a scrumptious selection of sandwiches - from the meatball and New York Philly to the turkey and veggie.
