Does it get any better than summer in Missouri? Even if we’re not exactly fans of the heat, we have plenty of fun ways to stay cool and have a ton of fun. Summertime’s all about day-tripping, too, and we’ve got no shortage of amazing places to visit in Missouri. Like the friendly small town of Rolla, Missouri. Save a day this summer for a day trip or even a weekend getaway.
Start building that summer bucket list, so you can savor every sweet moment of the season, beginning with a visit to the darling town of Rolla.
With a population of more than 20,000, Rolla’s technically a city, but it still offers that cozy, small-town feel and promises plenty to do for the whole family.
Since summer’s all about spending time outdoors, make sure you make the most of the sun-soaked days with a visit to The Fugitive Beach. The popular summertime attraction, which requires an admission fee, features a quarry beach, waterslides, and concession stands.
Fugitive Beach isn’t Rolla’s only waterpark. Carve out some time to visit Splash Zone. The outdoor waterpark offers something – slides, a lazy river, and a zero-depth entry pool – for all ages.
Go on a hike; have a picnic, or just explore one of the local parks, too. Audubon Trail Nature Center, Ber Juan Park, and Lions Club Park are all worth a stop.
The Missouri town also hosts a variety of events throughout the summer, including the annual Rolla Route 66 Summerfest, which is usually held at the beginning of June.
