Whether you’re a fan of history or an avid hiker, or both, you’ll want to consider a journey along the Fort Belle Fontaine Trail in Missouri. The winding trail boasts lush green scenery and spectacular views. Perhaps most notably, however, it leads to an abandoned fort.

You can find Fort Belle Fontaine, in St. Louis, on the multi-state Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail or along the Fort Belle Fontaine Loop Trail, the latter of which we'll follow today.
