Missouri’s rich culinary scene means we can experience food from around the globe. But it also allows us to journey to different eras – whether we’re dining at an old-school mom-and-pop that hearkens back to the 50s or we’re digging in at an old west-themed eatery. Next time you’re craving delicious eats and maybe a cold drink or two, make your way to this Old West-themed tavern in St. Louis, Missouri.
Step from 21st-century St. Louis straight into a time gone by when you cross the threshold into Trainwreck Saloon, which bills itself as “the oldest continuingly running bar in St. Louis.”
Before you even step inside, you’ll notice the bison and the caboose, both of which offer that Old West vibe.
Since it opened in 1891, the tavern has become a popular gathering spot that scores some pretty impressive marks from guests who rave about its fun ambiance, delicious food, and reasonable prices.
If you opt for an indoor seat, saddle up to the bar or request one of the tables in the cozy dining area, where you can kick back, relax, and peruse the menu.
For a real old-west experience, order one of the tavern’s famous bison burgers. But before you dig into your main course, whet your appetite with a tasty appetizer. Trainwreck Saloon serves such favorites as toasted ravioli, fried pickle chips, and pulled pork nachos.
Diners heap praise on the saloon’s wings, too, and you can order them with or without bones in a variety of flavors. If you’re really hungry, opt for the full serving.
If you’re craving something healthy, order one of the salads or opt for a wrap, the latter of which comes with a single side – sweet potato fries or baked beans.
Turkey, beef, and bison burgers all come with a hearty helping of fries. The menu also features more than half a dozen types of chicken sandwiches.
