We all have those times when we’re so hungry that running through the drive-thru and scarfing down a quick meal will do. But, then there are other times when we want more than just a meal to satisfy our hunger. We crave an adventure, and that’s just what we’ll find at this darling restaurant tucked in an art gallery and shop in Appleton City, Missouri.
It may call itself a city, but Appleton City has all the traits of a small town, right down to that old-fashioned friendliness for which small-town folks are known. This darling city of just over 1,000 is also home to what's been crowned a "hidden gem" by locals and those passing through.
When you're craving a truly unique adventure in Missouri, head over to Rustic Duck Lake Art Gallery and Restaurant. Take some time to meander through the art gallery and shop, which showcases the artwork and collection of artist Susan Hearting.
It should come as little surprise that the artwork at the Rustic Duck predominately consists of ducks and fowl. From paintings to carvings, the artwork promises to inspire.
If one of the daily specials doesn't get your stomach churning in anticipation, try one of the tasty handhelds. A burger (or cheeseburger), chicken wrap, and pork tenderloin sandwich are among your choices.
Sometimes everything looks so good that you just can't decide. Order a few sides - pintail fries, duck poppers, and mozzarella sticks - to create the perfect meal. The restaurant also serves slaw, side salads, and chips.
The cozy Missouri restaurant also has a menu just for the littles, who can choose from such favorites as mini burgers, grilled cheese, a hot dog, or mac and cheese.
Rustic date night packages are available on Friday and Saturday. Sweep your sweetie off their feet with a dinner (including wine) for two paired with paddle boats or a carriage ride.
