Can you name the most beautiful place in Missouri? If you asked a handful or even hundreds of Missourians, you’d probably get a whole range of answers. Missouri’s such a beautiful state, brimming with natural beauty. Elephant Rocks in Missouri, in fact, just might be one of the most stunning natural wonders that, when you visit, makes you feel as though you’ve traveled to another planet.
Elephant Rocks State Park, in Belleview, boasts an abundance of natural beauty, but one natural feature stands out: Elephant Rocks.
Undoubtedly the main attraction of the popular state park, Elephant Rocks earned its moniker from its similarities to circus elephants lined up like a train.
However, these are no ordinary circus elephants. The massive granite boulders date back more than 1.5 billion years, attracting visitors from all over Missouri and the United States.
Climbing the boulders, a favorite pastime for kids and adults, is permitted. Whether you're a casual or a seasoned climber, you'll find climbing the rocks is an ideal way to spend time.
After exploring the main attraction, consider checking out the rest of the park. You'll find other hiking trails, a playground, and picnic tables. If you've forgotten food but have cash, check out...
While Elephant Rocks State Park is temporarily closed due to the current environment, regular winter hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November through March. Spring hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from April through October.
