A snowy day holds so much promise. If we’re lucky, we can stay toasty in our PJs all day, watching the snow fall outside as we sip a cup of our favorite hot drink. Or maybe that pristine snow is just too irresistible. We have to go outside, catch snowflakes on our tongue, drop to the ground to make snow angels, and then maybe go on a day trip to a cozy small town in Missouri.
With so many adorable towns dotting the Missouri landscape, our biggest challenge often boils down to where to go on our next free day. If you find yourself mulling over that very question on the next snowy day, bundle up and head for the darling town of Weston.
While Weston is simply lovely in all four seasons, there’s just something oh-so-magical about this small town of just over 1,700 residents after a fresh snowfall.
If you’re all about those winter chills and thrills, make a beeline for Snow Creek Mountain Resort. Spend a few hours – or the entire day – zipping down the mountain on skis or a snow tube, or go snowboarding.
The mountain resort can get quite busy, so if you’re seeking snowy solitude, slip on a pair of warm, comfy boots, and explore Weston Bend State Park. It’s home to more than a half dozen scenic hiking trails.
If you visit during the Christmas season, plan a visit to Fulk’s Tree Farm. You won’t find a merrier way to spend a bit of time than meandering around the farm, looking for the perfect Christmas tree.
Fulk’s Tree Farm is technically about 10 minutes away in Platte City, but a visit is well worth the short detour.
For a quiet yet idyllic adventure, stroll through downtown Weston, where you’ll happen upon a variety of shops – from a whimsical candy store to clothing stores.
During your winter adventure in Weston, pull up a chair at O’Malley’s Pub. The oldest pub in Missouri serves a generous selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and delicious food and regularly hosts live entertainment.
