It’s just as much fun during the hottest days of summer as it is on a chilly winter afternoon. During the Halloween season, it transforms into a haunted destination that’s sure to leave you spooked. Buckle up for a ride on the Copperhead Mountain Coaster at Shepherd of the Hills in Branson, a popular year-round attraction that’s fun for thrill-seekers of all ages.
While you’ll find a few mountain coasters in Missouri, Copperhead Mountain Coaster bills itself as the longest downhill mountain coaster in the state – clocking in at almost a mile. It tallies 3,350 feet downhill and 1,450 feet uphill.
Drivers control the speed of the mountain coaster, so you can go as fast – or as slow – as you want with cars able to go more than 25 miles per hour. The coaster features what the attraction calls an advanced braking system to help ensure driver and rider safety.
However, before you book your tickets, you should be aware of a few things. Riders must stand at least 38 inches tall and be at least three years old while drivers must be at least 54 inches tall to drive solo.
Be sure to dress properly, including by wearing closed-toed shoes. Pockets should be empty, so you don’t lose something valuable – like your phone or wallet – while you’re on the track.
Copperhead Mountain Coaster’s hours vary depending on the season. Evening hours are also offered at select times. Drink in the beauty of the landscape as you soar along the track; the mountain coaster runs no matter the weather – even in the rain and snow.
