Missouri is loaded with history. Many of the towns situated along the Mississippi River have been established since the early 1800s. Just a short drive from St. Louis, but well off the beaten path is the tiny historic town of Kimmswick. This little town is well known for it’s annual Strawberry Festival in the spring and the Applebutter Festival in the fall. However, did you know you can dine in one of the oldest, log cabin buildings in Kimmswick? Have an extraordinary meal in this extraordinary setting!
The stunning log cabin in the heart of Kimmswick was constructed in 1772. Originally, the structure was a one story home and was situated closer to present day Arnold on Jeffco Boulevard.
The structure became two stories in 1831 and was moved to Kimmswick in the 1900's. At one point the building sat vacant and was going to be demolished. Luckily, Lucianna-Gladnery Ross, heir to the 7 Up soda empire, saved the building from its eminent doom.
Today, the Delta Queen Steamboat Company has turned this cozy log cabin into a dining destination. From the historic setting to the fabulous food and drink, you'll love dining at the Delta Queen Port of Call Restaurant.
Their gorgeous wood bar is the perfect place for a classic cocktail. Let their professional bar tender mix you the perfect drink. They also have a large wine menu for you to choose from.
From huge burgers to perfectly cooked steaks, their lunch and dinner menu has something for everyone. On Sundays, after noon, you can come in for all-you-can-eat fried chicken. It's a tasty meal that will remind you of home.
You definetly don't want to forget dessert here. Their secret recipe bread pudding is totally drool worthy. However, if bread pudding isn't your favorite, try their tasty New Orleans style beignets.
So, whether you're looking to sip a fantastic cocktail out on their patio or a great place for a family meal, the Delta Queen Port of Call Restaurant is the perfect place for both! This unique dining experience is one you won't soon forget.
