Missouri once laid claim to more than 30 covered bridges. Today, however that number has whittled down to just four. Here are just five reasons to visit Burfordville Covered Bridge in Missouri.
Burfordville Covered Bridge boasts a rich history that dates back to 1858. That year, construction on the bridge began with Joseph Lansmon at the helm. When the covered bridge opened for use, however, isn’t known.
Constructed in the style patented by William Howe, the covered bridge sits over the Whitewater River. In fact, you can still stroll over the 140-foot long covered bridge, which was made predominately of yellow poplar wood. (Vehicular traffic is prohibited on the bridge.)
