Missouri is the place to be, offering something for everyone – from nature lovers to foodies. Towns and cities across the state are constantly introducing ways to grow. Lee’s Summit is the latest to announce a brand-new project. Discovery Park in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, will offer something for everyone with restaurants, shops, hotels, and even a recreational lake. However, it will be quite some time until the entire new development is complete.
Lee’s Summit broke ground on a brand-new $900 million multi-use destination, currently known as Discovery Park, in November 2023.
Discovery Park is designed to be a community all on its own where Missourians can live, stay overnight in one of the hotels, shop, eat, and even work.
Boasting nearly four million square feet of space, Discovery Park bills itself as a mixed-use project that will feature a variety of types of businesses, from shops and restaurants to apartments and office space.
Spanning 268 acres, the new Lee’s Summit destination will sit between NE Colbern Road and NE Douglas Street and will be easily accessible via Interstate 470.

Discovery Park will feature several districts, including the 70,000-square-foot Village. With rolling opening dates from 2024 through 2026, the Village will house apartments, hotels, office space, and entertainment.
With a river walk and a four-acre lake, Discovery Park will also appeal to nature lovers, who will be able to kayak. The outdoor space will also include nature trails tallying five miles.
The estimated completion date for all phases of development of Discovery Park is currently 2031.
With construction slated to begin in 2024, the 90,000-square-foot Discovery Crossing will include retail space, restaurants, and potentially grocery and convenience stores.
Earmarked as the entertainment and canal district, The Promenade will feature a mix of apartments and hotels, restaurants and shops, and entertainment. Work on the Promenade is scheduled to begin in 2024.
