Have you wondered what life was like in the Missouri Ozarks during the great depression? About an hour south of Rolla is Bo’s Hollow, a replica 1930’s rural Ozarkian village. Forget about the hustle and bustle of modern times and take a trip into the past with a visit to this adorable little town. This out of the way adventure is one your family won’t soon forget!
Tucked away between the rolling hills of the Ozarks near Salem, Missouri is Bo's Hollow. A visit to this little hillbilly town is a great way to learn about the history of rural Missouri.
Life in the Ozarks was much different before paved roads, indoor plumbing, and reliable electricity. At Bo's you can truly get a sense of how many Missourians used to live.
You can even try to complete some of the chores that would have been done back then. Do you think you'd be strong enough to pump your water from the well each day?
Before heading home you'll want to take a ride in the Model A Ford. You'll love riding through the countryside in these historic vehicles. It's $5 for the ride and the trip lasts about 30 minutes. You can also grab lunch from Granny's BBQ while you're in Bo's Hollow for $5.
There are few places left in the state like Bo's Hollow. Opening day for Model A rides and picnics is May 3rd, but you're welcome to visit any day. Round up your family, and take the back roads to spend a peaceful day in the hollow.
