Towering hickory and oak trees can be found in this ancient forest in Missouri. A trip to Big Oak Tree State Park in East Prairie is like stepping back in time hundreds of years. These very trees greeted some of Missouri’s earliest explorers. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook when you visit Missouri’s ancient forest.
Tucked into a bend of the Mississippi River is the beautiful Big Oak Tree State Park. Some of the largest trees in the state are located in this Missouri park!
More seasoned hikers can also take the Bottomland Trail where they can get up-close and personal with nature. This 1.5 mile trail is a bit rugged but you'll go by some of the largest trees in the state.
