Yes, swimming is allowed in Lake Taneycomo. It is a popular lake for fishing, boating, swimming, and other recreational activities. However, since the Table Rock Dam was built the water temperatures have declined because the water coming through the dam from the depths of Table Rock Lake is significantly lower in temperature than it is at the surface of Lake Taneycomo. Thus, temperatures in Taneycomo can get quite chilly.

How deep is Lake Taneycomo?
Lake Taneycomo's depth exceeds 50 feet near the Power Site Dam in Forsyth, but it is much shallower throughout. These depths make for a wonderful environment for fish of a diverse selection of species, specifically brown and rainbow trout. You'll also find plenty of bass, blue gill, and crappie. Lake Taneycomo is one of the most diverse fishing lakes in Missouri.
