While most of society might be fixated on the latest technology, reading the news and books on phones and tablets, some of us still embrace old-fashioned books. There’s just something so satisfying, after all, about the smell of a book, the sound as we turn each page, and the way we can dog-ear where we’ve left off. This Missouri book shop is the perfect destination when we want to stock up on books or just browse the shelves full of hidden treasures.
You can't miss Prospero's Books in Kansas City; the old-school corner book shop boasts a huge sign alerting you to its presence.
Nestled in a building that dates back to 1890, the space has seen just a few residents during its history - a grocery store, a hardware store, and since 1997, a booklover's oasis.
Even if you pass by when the shop is closed, you're still in luck. A selection of books remains outside. If you take one, slide a donation under the front door.
Do you have a favorite old-school Missouri book shop? Tell us about it in the comments! For more old-school, make your way to one of the oldest family-owned restaurants in Missouri.
