There is a lot to love about the Show Me State. We have stunning parks, beautiful lakes, all four seasons, and so much to see and do. However, there are some things in Missouri that we’d all like to avoid. Here are a few less than pleasant things that top our list.

Tornadoes can be incredibly destructive and sometimes even deadly. Some of the worst tornadoes in American history have torn through Missouri. If you can, this force of nature is one you want to avoid.

Another equally destructive force of nature in Missouri is flooding. With so many rivers and streams across the state, flooding affects nearly all of us. Again, some of the worst flooding in American history has happened right here in the Show Me State. While flooding is almost impossible to avoid, if you do encounter flooded roads - turn around, don't drown.

The dreaded I-270 rush hour traffic is a nightmare that many people experience daily. There is nothing worse for your work commute than a huge traffic jam. Take our advice and avoid 270 during rush hour!

If you're on the west side of Missouri you know the worst drivers come from the Sunflower State. Whether they took a different version of driver's ed or forgot what it's like to drive with other cars on the road. either way we know the worst driver come from Kansas.

Unless you just love booze fueled crowds that get rowdier by the minute, avoid party cove at all costs. This Lake of the Ozarks hot spot gets pretty wild. We're sure the water isn't safe to drink!

Missouri is one of the great US states that gets to experience all four seasons. Actually, we're so lucky that sometimes we get all four seasons in one week! However, all the weather changes lead to one terrible thing - potholes. Each summer our roads become obstacle courses and only the strong survive. Do your car and your wallet a favor by avoiding those potholes.

Alright, not every Missourian has an aversion to the Cubs but if your a Cardinals fan you understand. The latest match-up between these long term rivals just gives us another reason to want to avoid Cubs fans. Don't heckle us, we know the Cards (and the Royals) are far better teams!

Each summer the dreaded tick reappears in our favorite outdoor spots. These little blood suckers spread all kinds of diseases and can even cause you to become allergic to red meats! So remember, to avoid these pests spray for ticks before hitting the trails.

Float trips in Missouri are tons of fun. Unfortunately, on holiday weekends or other special events the rivers can get super crowded. If you've ever accidentally planned your family float on the same weekend as the Bull Float Trip you know what we mean. If you want to avoid the river party, take a week day float and always avoid holiday weekends.

While there are a lot of great things about living in Missouri, one not so great thing is the endless road construction. It seems like each summer hundreds of projects begin and by winter less than 5 seem to have been completed. Orange cones just seems to be a part of life here in the Show Me State. You can try to avoid road construction but it truly seems like an impossible task.
