Going to the market daily – to pick up necessities like fresh milk, eggs, and cheese – was once a way of life. Today, we have large chain grocery stores, grocery delivery services, and online shopping to make our lives much easier. However, there’s nothing that compares to an old-fashioned market, brimming with fresh goods. Next time you need groceries or just have an hour or so to explore, make your way to this Amish market in Missouri.
Amish Country Store, in Branson, sells a little bit of everything – from fresh milk and eggs to household goods, making it a must-visit at least once. (Once you visit, though, chances are you’ll go back.)
Popular with both locals and tourists, the country store is the place to go when you need fresh food. Find homemade Amish jams, jellies, and pie fillings, for example.
If you’ve never tasted milk from a glass bottle, you’ll definitely want to buy a bottle or two of the glass bottle milk from Ozark Mountain Creamery. It’s even available in chocolate.
How does homemade honey sound? Or some delicious candy? You’ll definitely want to spend time wandering up and down the aisles of the old-fashioned shop that also sells items in bulk.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the actual shop. Amish Country Store also has an online shop, where you can find food, cookbooks, and even butter bells.
Have you ever been to this Amish market in Missouri? What did you think? Share your experience in the comments! If you’re a fan of home-cooked food and Amish (and American) dishes, you’ll probably want to sit down to a meal at Gingerich Dutch Pantry in Jamesport.
