If you like airplanes, coffee or both, then this cafe in Kansas City may be the perfect place for you to visit. The Roasterie is home to the “Air-Roasted Coffee,” but aside from its delicious coffee, visitors are often drawn to this cafe for its unique airplane themed environment. While driving downtown, it’s hard to miss the building on 27th Street that features an airplane taking flight off of it.

Today, The Roasterie is one of the most brewed coffees in Kansas City, but the cafe had very humble beginnings.

In 1978, founder Danny O'Neill picked his first coffee beans near the Poás volcano while studying abroad in Costa Rica. 15 years later, he opened up The Roasterie cafe in his Brookside neighborhood basement. Since then, he has partnered with farmers all over the world to bring the best coffee beans to Kansas City.
Visit the Roasterie's flagship store to go on a tour and learn about the coffee roasting process.
