Living in Missouri is pretty awesome, but I’d be lying if I said everything here is sunshine and butterflies. Here are some of the struggles that most, if not all, Missourians run into at some point in time.
1. Having to explain where Kansas City is.
First off, there are two Kansas Citys. Second off, the better one is located in Missouri, not Kansas.
2. Shoveling. Practically every winter.
It's the Midwest, what did you expect?
3. Deciding where to eat BBQ tonight.
I wouldn't say it's the worst problem to have, but it's definitely tough to choose just one out all of the amazing BBQ spots we have here.
4. Surviving the unbearable humidity in the summer.
Our summers are sticky, itchy and scorching for the most part. Luckily, we have some pretty amazing rivers, lakes and swimming holes to cool off in.
5. Driving home during a tornado.
Most of us have been in a car when the tornado alerts have gone off. And most of us have continued to drive instead of seeking immediate shelter. I guess you could say that we like to live on the edge.
6. Picking the right team.
There are two types of people in Missouri: Cardinal fans and Royals fans. Which one are you? (Disclaimer: Depending on your answer, you may be uninvited to your co-worker's happy hour.)
7. Driving through cornfields and farmland.
There's nothing better than a sunset in rural Missouri. However, the flat plains and cornfields get pretty old when driving down the same highway from Kansas City to St. Louis.
8. Cheering for college basketball...or basketball in general.
Not going to lie, it's pretty difficult to throw shade on KU when Mizzou's basketball team is riding a 7-game losing streak. Furthermore, we don't even have a pro basketball team to cheer for. The struggle is real, let me tell you.
9. Having to deal with construction traffic.
If I had a nickel for every time I got stuck in traffic due to construction, I'd have a bag full of nickels and no more original excuses for running late to work. Missouri highways are notorious for closing off lanes due to construction.
