Winter’s not officially started yet. But, before long, we’ll probably all be suffering from a bit of cabin fever, aching for those warm spring days when snow, ice, and frigid temperatures no longer force us indoors. While we may not have a cure for cabin fever, we can certainly find ways to add some fun and adventure to winter. Here are eight indoor adventures in Missouri that are perfect for winter.
Missing those hot summer days, lounging by the pool? Enjoy a bit of summer in the middle of winter at Castle Rock Resort & Waterpark, which boasts a 600-foot lazy river. But, that’s just the beginning. Spend the day zipping down waterslides, shooting hoops in the pool, and standing under a 500-gallon tipping bucket.
Castle Resort & Waterpark is located at 3001 Green Mountain Dr., Branson, MO 65616.
Spend an action-packed day at the massive 60,000-square foot trampoline park Flying Spider. Jump on trampolines. Challenge yourself to the ninja agility course, which sits over foam pits (so no worries about falling!). And, play a vigorous game of dodge ball at the indoor adventure park.
Flying Spider is located at 14820 Manchester Rd., Ballwin, MO 63011.
Go underground for an unforgettable adventure at Bonne Terre Mine. Embark on a boat and a walking tour that will give you a unique glimpse at Billion Gallon Lake, the largest subterranean lake in the world and the artifacts it holds. Seasoned scuba divers can even go diving in the lake at what is known as the "world's largest fresh water dive resort."
Bonne Terre Mine is located at 185 Park Ave., Bonne Terre, MO 63628.
Bring summer indoors when you spend a few hours golfing at Wildwood Indoor Mini Golf. The western-themed mini golf course features such fun decorations as an old jail, a covered wagon, and an old general store.
Wildwood Mini Golf is located at 200 Wildwood Dr. S, Branson, MO 65616.
Lace up your bowling shoes for an indoor adventure like none other at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill. The ocean-themed bowling alley and grill promises a unique experience – from retrieving your bowling ball from a shark’s mouth to dining on alligator bites and burgers.
Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill is located at 612 Devil's Pool Rd., Ridgedale, MO 65739.
6. Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium – Springfield
Spend a day among some of the ocean’s most beautiful creatures – from jellyfish and eels to sharks and stingrays at Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. Then, take a peek at some of the historic boats on display. For a really out of this world adventure, climb into a cage, where you’ll go underwater and get an up-close view of the sharks. (Yes, really!)
Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is located at 500 W Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65807.
Can you escape from a tricky situation in less than an hour? Test your skills at Escapology, which features several escape room games. Challenge yourself to the Cuban Crisis, the Arizona Shootout, the Antidote, or the Budapest Express. All games begin with a video briefing so you know what to expect.
Escapology is located at 4105 N. Cloverleaf Dr. B, St Peters, MO 63376.
8. Upper Limits Indoor Rock Climbing Gym – St. Louis
Cabin fever got you climbing the walls? Then, climb a wall – literally – at Upper Limits Indoor Rock Climbing Gym. Start with Rock Gym 101 (if you’re a newbie), a two-hour class that will teach you to climb. (Six week courses are also available). Or, just visit for Open Climb, which runs all day.
Upper Limits Indoor Rock Climbing Gym is located at 326 S 21st St., St. Louis, MO 63103. But, it has several locations throughout Missouri.
