Missouri is home to the oldest continuously operating farmers market west of the Mississippi. With great opportunities for travel and trade across Missouri, many communities established markets for farmers and tradesmen to sell their goods. The Soulard Farmers Market in St. Louis is the oldest farmers market west of the Mississippi. In roughly the original location, the Soulard Farmers Market has been in operation since 1779. The market has existed in its current state since 1929 after the original buildings were replaced.
Open Wednesday through Saturday year-round, the market tends to get pretty busy, especially on Saturdays. Find a food and drink vendor before you do your serious shopping.
Local farmers have the opportunity to sell their products directly to consumers every Saturday and Sunday. Visit often to find seasonal items like Morel mushrooms.

The Columbia market also has more than just produce but they are a producer only market. This means only items that the seller has created or grown themselves may be sold.
The market works with over 80 different vendors and has farmers coming in from a 50 mile radius. That means you can always find fresh produce and unique products year round.
