Don’t be fooled by its appearance. H.D. Gibbes & Sons looks like a historic general store – and that’s because it is. However, it’s not just a general store. Several nights a week, it acts as a restaurant, serving up steak, lamb chops, seafood, and more.
Another historic general store and restaurant in one, The Simmons-Wright Company has been in business since 1884, and in recent years, has grown to include an on-site restaurant, 1884 Café.
When seeking great restaurants, a bait shop probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind; however, that’s exactly where you’ll find Clay’s House of Pig, which serves up some of the best BBQ in Mississippi.
A tiny, one-table restaurant wedged between two buildings, Front Street Snack Bar is as unassuming as can be, so the fact that it’s been around for years speaks volumes. The steady stream of customers is undoubtedly due to the menu, which features an array of burgers, hot dogs, fries, and other classics.
Shaped like a giant woman, you’d be hard-pressed to find another restaurant like Mammy’s Cupboard! Its unique appearance isn’t the only thing that makes it a must-visit, though. Over the years, it’s topped countless "best of" lists, including the "best roadside diner" and the "best pie."
