When it comes to unique places in Mississippi, Buttercup Flats definitely fits the bill. It’s not just unique to the state, though. As one of the largest wetlands of its kind in the southeast, it’s unique to the region, too. Luckily for us, though, it’s right here in Mississippi.

Spanning hundreds of thousands of acres, the De Soto National Forest boasts recreational areas, hiking trails, and one of the largest pitcher plant wetlands in the southeastern U.S.
