The Tuxachanie Trail: One Of Mississippi's Most Underrated Hikes

Summer is the time to get out and enjoy all the Mississippi’s great outdoors has to offer, and there’s no better way to bask in nature than by hiking. Here’s a trail that’s definitely worth exploring!

The Tuxachanie Trail stretches through some of Mississippi's most beautiful wilderness.

You'll meander nearly 13 miles through the DeSoto National Forest.

Find trailhead at Saucier, Airey Lake Recreation Area and the P.O.W. Lake Recreation Area.

You'll hike past stands of longleaf pines, and enjoy plenty of shade along this trail. It's perfect for a hot, summer day!

You'll cross and re-cross Tuxachanie Creek several times, on a variety of bridges.

The trail takes you through swampland, past ponds and over streams.

There are alligators along portions of this trail, so take the appropriate precautions.

This trail is rated as easy. It's nearly flat and most hikers won't have difficulty navigating the terrain.

If you aren't up for a full day of hiking, just take one section of this pretty hike.
