Rural Mississippi is full of so many hidden gems, and you can find one of them in Algoma. The small community with just a few hundred residents probably isn’t on your radar, but it should be – and that’s because it’s home to a country store that serves up mouthwatering, home cooked meals. Take a look:
The Algoma Country Store is located in the tiny town of the same name. As you can see from the map, it’s situated near the Tanglefoot Trail, making it a great place to grab a bite while biking the trail.
It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m. (But no matter which time of the day you visit, an impressive variety is guaranteed.)
The breakfast fare includes biscuits, three kinds of gravy, and a variety of meats. In the afternoon and evening, you can fill up on everything from fast food eats, like burgers, fries, corn nuggets, and chicken-on-a-stick…
Each day of the week brings a new special. On Wednesdays, it’s Fried catfish; Saturdays mean chicken livers and gizzards. Check the store’s Facebook page to see what tasty dishes are served the rest of the week.
