When it comes to must-visit towns in Mississippi, Woodville should be at the top of your list. The quintessential small town is overflowing with charm. Set among picturesque rolling hills in the southwest corner of the state, Woodville is home to about 1,000 people. (And we’d say they’re pretty lucky, considering all the town has to offer!)

Incorporated in 1811, Woodville is one of the oldest towns in the state. Luckily, there are plenty of chances to learn about the area’s history thanks to not one, but two, museums.

Woodville is home to the Wilkinson County Museum and African American Museum. The museums, which are both housed in historic buildings that date back to the 1800s, are filled with photos and artifacts. And since they’re located near each other, you can easily visit both museums.
Woodville is also home to the Rosemont Plantation – the childhood home of Jefferson Davis.

Rosemont was built by Jefferson Davis’ parent in 1810. The home apparently left an impact on Davis; when speaking of Rosemont, he’s said, "It was here that my memories began." Visit today and you can learn all about the plantation’s past thanks to knowledgeable tour guides.

Sure to be a memorable experience, the store’s been described as "part museum, part retail store - but with an attitude." The landmark shop is open weekends only, so plan your visit accordingly.
A town with a little bit of everything, Woodville is home to one of the state’s most beautiful outdoor treasures – otherwise known as Clark Creek Nature Area.

The 2,000-acre nature area is highlighted by dozens of waterfalls, huge rock formations, and other features unique to the state. Primitive and improved trails make it easy to explore Clark Creek, which means it’s a great visit for everyone from avid hikers to casual strollers.
