Woodall Mountain is the only mountain in Mississippi – and that’s quite alright. High elevations mean thinner air, which makes it harder to breathe. Not to mention the steep slopes make it difficult to grow food and build houses. Yep; we’re doing perfectly fine here in the Magnolia State with just one 800’ mountain.
Not having a professional team may not seem like a good thing, but when you have some incredible college teams, who has time for the NFL?

If you’re looking for amusement in the form of high-flying rides and daring roller coasters, Mississippi won’t be able to deliver. However, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. From rock climbing at Tishomingo state park to treetop obstacle courses and zip-lining, thrill-seekers won’t be disappointed.

Sure, the summers are brutal, but at least we don’t have to deal frigid temperatures and shoveling snow every single winter.

You’ll find plenty of Subway restaurants scattered throughout Mississippi but subways, as in underground trains, are non-existent. But that’s fine, because with such beautiful scenery, who’d want to ride underground?
That’s right; you don’t have to pay a toll to drive on any of the roads in the Magnolia State. In fact, Mississippi is one of several states that have never had any toll roads.
Crowds are pretty rare in Mississippi - even in the state’s larger cities, especially when compared to other places in the country. For example, Jackson’s population is 166,965, while Manhattan’s is about 10 times that!

Rude people may not be completely non-existent in Mississippi, but they’re pretty uncommon. If you do run into one, they could just be having an off day. (Or, perhaps, they’re an out-of-towner?) But for the most part, the residents are undeniably friendly and helpful, making the state worthy of its nickname "the Hospitality State."
You won’t find any White Castle restaurants in Mississippi, but with countless Krystal restaurants, you probably haven’t noticed.
