There’s nothing like a delicious meal at a historic restaurant, and Weidmann’s Restaurant is one of the oldest in Mississippi. Not only does this restaurant offer up some delicious meals, its pies will blow your taste buds away. Take a look:
Weidmann's Restaurant opened in 1870, and it's been serving delicious food and incredible pies ever since. The restaurant is located at 210 22nd Ave., Meridian, MS 39301
The restaurant was opened by Felix Weidmann, a Swiss immigrant, and it moved to its current location in 1923. Weidmann's has a rich history in Meridian.
Before your dinner, you'll be presented with a crock of peanut butter and some crackers. This practice dates back to World War II, when there was a shortage of butter and the owner substituted peanut butter. The crocks are all handmade by a local potter.
Weidmann's might have the best crab cakes you've ever tasted. The loaded crab cakes come with crabmeat belvedere and fontina, then they're topped with fried green tomato and covered in buerre blanc sauce. They're to die for.
A close second is the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. Drizzled with chocolate, it's a dream come true. Other pies on the menu include lemon almond pie and peanut butter pie. These are some of the best pies you'll find in all of Mississippi.
Visit Weidmann's Restaurant seven days a week! It's open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
