Hotels in Mississippi are plentiful. Hotels that have been around since the 1920s? They’re far less common, but they do exist – and the Belmont Hotel is one of them. The decades old hotel has been in operation since 1924! And while some updates have been made, the hotel has retained much of its original charm. Take a look:
As you’ve probably guessed by the name, Belmont Hotel is located in the tiny town of Belmont, which is in Tishomingo County.
You’ll find it in downtown Belmont on Main Street.
Opened in 1924, it’s one of the oldest hotels in Mississippi. Still bearing many of its original features, stepping inside the historic hotel is like taking a step back in time.
In business for decades, it should come as no surprise that the hotel has an interesting past. Conveniently located near the railroad, the Belmont once provided accommodations for out-of-towners and salesmen. Business continued to boom through the Great Depression and WWII. According to some, the hotel didn’t just survive the war but played a role in it. Rumors of secret military meetings at the hotel continue to circulate today.

Despite being restored, the hotel hasn’t lost its historic feel. An elegant lobby, original tin ceilings, and hardwood floors are just a few of the hotel’s features that’ll remind you of days long gone.
But you can do more than view the historic aspects of Belmont. The hotel is owned by "three generations of gracious Southern women," who are more than happy to tell you all about the hotel’s history.
The renowned Natchez Trace Parkway is just six miles from the hotel. Tishomingo State Park and Bay Springs Lake are also close by and perfect for some outdoor fun.
