There’s nothing like driving along a country road and stumbling across a great restaurant. Luckily, rural Mississippi is full of these kinds of tasty surprises – you just have to know where to look. And a great place to start is Bentonia. The tiny town is home to an incredible burger joint, which is fittingly named the Hall of Fame Restaurant. Take a look:
On a quiet country road in Bentonia, sits the Hall of Fame Restaurant. It was opened in 2008 by David Brown, the brother of NFL Hall of Famer Willie Brown.
Accurately named, Brown set out to make the best hamburger around and according to customers and critics alike, he succeeded. Always handmade, the juicy burgers include fresh toppings, seasoned patties, and a variety of cheeses.
Step inside the tiny dining area, which is just over 200 square feet and sits a maximum of 13 people, and you’ll quickly realize that good things do come in small packages.
The menu also includes chicken, barbecue, and sandwiches. But the burgers are by far the best seller, with the restaurant going through 160 pounds of hamburger meat each week!
Despite its obscure location, the eatery has had visitors from all over the world, including France, Italy, and Canada. Recently, NBC Sports stopped by to film the restaurant’s cook preparing the "world famous Fletcher Cox Burger."
