She’s also had the honor of interviewing actress Sela Ward for The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience.
Just last year, we told you about the Sloth Experience at Hattiesburg Zoo. As the name implies, the experience allows visitors to interact with a sloth, which is as amazing as it sounds. However, it’s not the only way you can have close-up fun with the zoo’s residents. Thanks to the Wallaby Walkabout, you can interact with wallabies and a few other animals native to the Australian Outback. Take a look:
If you ever needed proof that good things come in small packages, just pay a visit to Hattiesburg Zoo. Located in Kamper Park, the zoo is just 12 acres – however, it’s loaded with things to see and do.
The zoo features a variety of attractions that represent different continents. In 2018, the zoo opened its fourth continent, Australia, which includes the Wallaby Walkabout exhibit.
So, want to know more about the animals you'll be interacting with? Well, there are cute and cuddly wallabies, which are comparable to small kangaroos.
There are also kunekune pigs, which are similar to regular pigs. Don’t let the odd name fool you; it simply means “fat and round” in Maori, the indigenous language of New Zealand.
Remember, Wallaby Walkabout is just the beginning of what the zoo has to offer. In addition to an array of other exhibits, the grounds include an adventure course, splash pad, carousel, train rides, and more.
So, mate, are you ready to experience a bit of the Outback right here in the Magnolia State? Wallaby Walkabout is open during normal zoo hours. Hattiesburg Zoo is open Tuesday – Sunday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, call (601) 545-4576. You can also visit the Hattiesburg Zoo website or Facebook page.
