These 10 perfectly-sized cities in Mississippi are just right – plenty of entertainment and amenities, but also small enough for that hometown vibe.
Oxford has around 22,000 residents, so it’s big enough to have some pretty good stuff, but small enough that you can really relax here. It’s the home of Ole Miss, so you know you’re gonna be at least one football game every year.

Hurricane Katrina hit Pascagoula pretty hard, but now it’s a beautiful, quiet place to live. From the hustle and bustle of the conference center complex to the relaxing atmosphere of the dock, Pascagoula is just the right size.
Columbus is the home of Tennessee Williams, and also the first public school in Mississippi (Franklin Academy is still open today). With 24,000 residents, this town is a nice size - big enough for some amenities, but small enough to feel like a hometown.
The county seat of Warren County, Vicksburg is home to about 24,000 people. The Mississippi River meanders past town, providing some beautiful scenery.

Home to Mississippi State University, Starkville has plenty to offer, despite its size (less than 25,000 residents). It’s home to several cool festivals, including the Dudy Gras Parade, Ragtime & Jazz Music Festival and the Cotton District Arts Festival.

Tupelo is the County Seat of Lee County. It’s most famously the birthplace of Elvis Presley, and was also the first city to get electric power under Roosevelt’s Tennesee Valley Authority.
Meridian was the birthplace of the "Father of Country Music" - Jimmie Rodgers. The city is just full of culture - the Meridian Art Museum, symphony, children’s chorus and more are there to enrich the lives of its citizens.

Biloxi has around 45,000 people, making it one of Mississippi’s larger towns, but it’s still just the right size. Even though this bustling town has tons to offer for both business and recreation, it also offers plenty of quiet spaces, too.
