Truly a hidden gem, Palestine Gardens is located off Highway 98, approximately 15 miles north of the small town of Lucedale.

In 1960, Reverend Walter Harvell Jackson set out to "bring the Bible to life," and the result was Palestine Gardens.

The detailed model includes several significant sites, such as the Jordan River, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem.

Using a 1 yard:1 mile scale, it features accurately represented topography - all the way from the Dead Sea at 1,380 feet below sea level to Mount Hernon in Syria, which has an elevation of 9,223 feet.

Since being built, people have traveled from all over the globe to tour Palestine Gardens.

Still available today, the tour will take you across the Jordan River to places, such as Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Mt. of Olives, Calvary, Sea of Galilee, and the Great Sea.

Spanning 1/4 mile, the guided tour usually takes about an hour.

Time that's sure to go by fast, as you learn all about the unique creation and take in all the intricate details.

And the best part? There's no admission fee to view Palestine Gardens.

Visit Palestine Gardens at 201 Palestine Garden Road in Lucedale Tuesday through Saturday (April – November), from 9 am to 5 pm and on Sunday, from 1 pm to 5 pm. For more information, click here.
