While we may not see those brutal winters our Northern friends do, there are still plenty of things to do in winter in Mississippi. I’d say it’s because we don’t have those brutal winters that we have so many fun activities we can explore year-round! Beaches are typically reserved for summertime fun, but I implore you to get out and explore Mississippi’s beaches in the winter. There are plenty of perks to enjoying our beaches in the winter, especially if you don’t want to deal with crowds!
There are 62 miles of scenic coastline and 26 miles of beaches in Mississippi to enjoy.
Visitors to this area can enjoy strolling down the Washington Street Pier, shopping, dining, and more. Plus, you never know what wildlife will be around. I always enjoy watching the pelicans, herons, and egrets trolling the pier for a tasty snack.

Coastal Mississippi is a natural wonder that just becomes even more enchanting in the wintertime.
Sunset beach strolls are my favorite. Even though the water may be too cold to swim in, there's something magical about walking barefoot on the sand when it's cold. Try it! Plus, you might find that you have the entire beach to yourself! That's certainly one of the best perks of visiting Mississippi's beaches during the winter.
The hardest part is picking what beach you want to spend the day at.
You may even want to consider turning the day trip into a weekend getaway! The Inn at Long Beach offers exceptional rooms with beautiful beach views that won’t bust your budget.
